Towing out of Coomera? Read this first

If you tow, three things are worth getting right, and most people get at least one of them wrong.

Load rating. Check the load index on your tyre against what your vehicle needs when it is loaded and hitched, not when it is empty. Light truck (LT) construction tyres carry more and have stronger sidewalls than passenger construction in the same size.

Pressures. A towing setup needs different pressures from an empty vehicle. Running unladen pressures with a van on the back overheats the tyre and is a genuine blowout risk on a long M1 run in summer.

Age. Caravan and boat trailer tyres often have huge tread and almost no life left, because they spend years sitting still. Rubber perishes whether it rolls or not. We can read the date codes for you.
